Rehydrate Your Farm Landscape Bootcamp – Eva Valley, NT

This project is about supporting farmers and NRM professionals to use natural infrastructure and farm system solutions to restore healthy water processes on farms for drought resilience.

Learn how to apply water-focused strategies to improve productivity and drought resilience. Extend your wet season and grow more grass! The project runs for two years, following this sequence:

Bootcamp

A practical, hands-on 3-day course delivered on property with Mulloon Institute Landscape Planners. Capped at 25 people.

This bootcamp will be invaluable for both land managers and for natural resource managers as part 1 of the Professionals’ Intensive Course.

Day 1: Introduction to Landscape Rehydration. Learn how to read water processes to interpret landscape health.

Days 2&3: A skills-based course about harnessing the water cycle to improve landscape function on your property. See first-hand how these solutions are working on Old Cameron Downs.

You will learn the following:

  • Field assessment skills
  • Design principles
  • Planning skills

Cost: Full 3-day bootcamp = $440 | Day 1 only tickets only = $30

Dates and location: 17-19 April 2024, Old Cameron Downs.

Mentoring Program

Following the bootcamp, participants can apply to be part of the Institute’s mentoring program (up to 12 months). This is a rare opportunity, capped at 8 properties.

This program involves one-on-one online sessions to enable you to plan, design and implement a project on your property with technical support and resources provided by a Mulloon Institute landscape planner.

In-person site visits will be arranged where possible. One project will be selected for on-ground works with subsidised materials/equipment for a Project Day event (more info on this later).

Cost: $500

Dates: up to 12 months (commencing May 2024)

Professionals’ Intensive Course

The two-part course is designed specifically for Natural Resource professionals delivered by the highly experienced hydrologist and landscape planner Lance Mudgway.

Part 1 is the Bootcamp (see above). Part 2 is a 2-day course where you will learn advanced in-field assessment techniques, as well as planning, design and implementation skills required to deliver larger-scale projects.

Cost: $400 per person for combined Parts 1 & 2.

Dates and location:         Part 1 – Bootcamp 17-19 April 2024, Old Cameron Downs.

Part 2 – June 2024, (location TBD).
