The Northern Hub, a leader in fostering drought and climate resilience across the Northern Territory and Northern Western Australia, is inviting applications for two distinguished positions as Independent Board Members. This unique opportunity allows individuals to directly contribute to shaping the future of agricultural and pastoral resilience in these regions.
About the Northern Hub Established under the initiative of the Future Drought Fund, the Northern Hub stands as one of eight national Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs. Its mission is to enhance the sustainability and prosperity of rural communities through innovative and practical approaches to drought resilience. Spanning a third of Australia, the Hub impacts a significant geographical area with an annual production value estimated at $2.45 billion.
The Role As an Independent Board Member, you will provide strategic guidance and leadership, ensuring that the Hub’s activities align with our goals of enhancing agricultural practices and strengthening community resilience against climate challenges. The positions are particularly suited to individuals with a robust background in the agricultural or pastoral sectors, possessing a strong grasp of the unique environmental and economic conditions of Northern Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend four face-to-face board meetings annually and additional virtual meetings as required.
- Engage with a network of industry leaders, including the Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemen’s Association, NT Farmers Association, and Charles Darwin University, among others.
- Play a pivotal role in the annual stakeholder engagement events.
Who Should Apply? Ideal candidates are collaborative, innovative professionals passionate about the development of the Northern regions. You should have:
- Experience in agriculture or pastoral industries within Northern Australia.
- Excellent networking skills and the ability to maintain relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- A keen understanding of the social, economic, and environmental impacts of drought in Northern Australia.
Remuneration This is a paid position, offering $10,000 per annum, reflecting the commitment and expertise brought to the board.
