We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Leia Grimsey as the new Director of the Northern Hub.

Ms Grimsey brings more than a decade of experience in project management, operational leadership, and team and community development skills.

Previously the Manager of the SQNNSW Drought & Innovation Hub, Ms Grimsey is known for enhancing regional drought resilience and fostering impactful cross-sector collaboration across a wide range of stakeholders.

Ms Grimsey said she is eager to continue this work at the Northern Hub as we tackle the challenges and opportunities facing our region.

"I am honoured to lead the Northern Hub and look forward to advancing its mission to ensure a resilient and prosperous future for producers, communities, and future generations across northern Australia" she said.

The Northern Hub is dedicated to strengthening resilience to drought and climate variability while fostering agricultural innovation across the Northern Territory and Northern Western Australia by:

  1. Consulting with First Nations communities to incorporate Indigenous knowledge.

  2. Supporting emerging land managers through early career projects and opportunities.

  3. Assisting with stocking rate decisions and rehydration strategies.

  4. Exploring natural capital market opportunities and conducting public consultations, workshops and information sharing events.

  5. Offering resources and workshops to build economic resilience, preparedness strategies, and showcasing innovative opportunities across our region.

Ms Grimsey will bring enhanced leadership and develop stronger partnerships, innovative solutions, and community empowerment in the Northern Hub region.

The Northern Hub, funded by the Federal Drought Fund and housed at Charles Darwin University, enhances resilience to drought and climate variability while fostering agricultural innovation. The Northern Hub’s mission is to empower communities and land managers with strategies to adapt, prepare, and succeed in a changing climate.
